To start with I would like to bust the myth and say that yes, infertility treatment in Ayurveda is possible only if you have the patience to look deep into your problem. Ayurveda is a very individualised Sastra. There is nothing like a common program or treatment for all as each individual is different particularly the mind part in it. When it comes to infertility, it is even more individual specific as it involves psychological angle also. So, seeing and examining the person with the problem is of utmost importance when it comes to infertility treatment in Ayurveda. The trividha pareeksha, Dasavidha pareeksha, Prakruti, etc., plays an important part in the diagnosis and management of a disease condition. Having said this, I will try to answer the questions below.
Any remedy to improve egg quality?
Egg quality is dependent on so many factors in the body, mind, genetic factors, etc. We have to see the reasons for inferior quality of the egg. Generally speaking, yes, it can be improved with food and medicine. The satvik foods like butter, ghee, milk, amla, mango, asparagus, yams, etc., can improve the egg quality and medicines like satavari ghritam/gulam, vidaryadi ghritam, chyavanaprasam, kalyanaghritam, aswagandha rasayanam, etc., depending on the condition of the person will improve the egg quality.
I am a chronic pcod sufferer since puberty with irregular and absent cycles which is diagnosed as no ovulation which leads to absent cycle. Also gained lot of weight and head baldness. Any remedy you can suggest.
Diagnosis has to be made based on Ayurvedic concepts and treated accordingly. There is nothing like a quick, short cut treatment for this condition. You have to consult an authentic ayurvedic physician.
Is there any herb which can stimulate ovulation?
Amla, Satavari, Til, Musali,Vidaree are highly effective to stimulate ovulation.
Any Ayurvedic herb that can help to regulate monthly cycle?
Satavari (Asparagus racemosus) can help to regulate monthly cycle. Again it depends, why monthly cycle is irregular.
Anything that can help to unblock partially block tubes?
One has to know the exact reason for partial blockage of tubes which is possible after personal examination. However, in Ayurveda, it is Srodhorodham. And, yes, there is treatment in Ayurveda for this condition.
What to give men if they have a low sperm count?
Reason for low sperm count has to be analysed and treatment given. Generally, Aswagandha based medicines can improve low sperm count.
Kindly tell about utar basti kriya treatment. Does it help in conceiving?
Uttaravasthi is an ayurvedic procedure that has to be done by an ayurvedic physician. Yes, it helps in conceiving as it is one of the treatment protocols suggested for conception.
What’s the ideal diet that a person with PCOD should follow? Are there certain foods to avoid that may cause more harm and are there certain foods that will be truly beneficial to improve the condition?
Satvik diet is the best as suggested earlier. Amla and satavari will certainly help. Avoid all junk foods and drinks, spicy, oily, sour foods, deep fried, micro waved, fast foods and drinks.
I have unexplained infertility. What should I do?
Ayurveda strongly believes that there is nothing like unexplained infertility. There is a reason for everything that is happening in this Universe and its inhabitants including human beings. We have to find out the reason. Without a cause nothing happens!
